Next to the beach is Paignton Green, perfect for those who want a more active holiday. The Green is great for family games of cricket, football and rounders! During the summer evenings the seafront is still very much alive as it becomes a meeting place, the venue for a lovely evening stroll under the illuminations or the perfect place to sit and watch the sunset.
Paignton is the perfect location for an active family holiday. However, there is also a different side to Paignton which can be found in the elegance of Oldway Mansion, the green coastline around Elberry Cove and the stunning architecture of Palace Avenue.
Paignton Harbour is located at the southern end of Paignton Sands. This busy harbour offers regular boat trips to various locations along the south Devon coast. There are also regular fishing trips.
Located just behind Goodrington Sands is the fantastic Splashdown Quaywest Water Park boasting eight exciting water slides including the Wild Kamikaze and the Devils Drop! There are also a range of smaller slides for younger visitors as well as two shallow water pools ideal for paddling.
The park has its own railway served by steam trains on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway as well as plenty of car parking spaces. Splashdown Quaywest is ideally located for visitors staying in the Goodrington area.
Paignton Zoo is one of the most popular attractions in Devon and a great day out for all the family.
The zoo was recently used in the BBC's "The Zoo Keepers" documentart and is home to hundreds of species of animals. From tigers to monkeys, red pandas to kangaroos the zoo is full of wonderful animals for you to meet. Commited to the conservation of wildlife throughout the world the zoo is home to 250 exotic species, 70 of which are classed as endangered.
A visit to Paignton Zoo gives you a rare opportunity to see these beautiful animals in surroundings which match their natural habitats as closely as possible. Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway
Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway is a holiday line running seven mile from Paignton to Churston.
These traditional Great Western steam engines run at regular intervals along the seven mile stretch of Torbay coastline.
With breath-taking coastal scenery the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway is a fabulous way to travel. Seven miles of fabulous scenic views!!
